I decided to take a social media break for a week and ended up making a blog. Not fully sure how that happened but it did. I started my break on Wednesday morning. It's been 3 days. It's going fairly well except complete boredom. The most socialization I get is from Twitter. It's a sad truth of not being around anyone my age. Having anxiety doesn't help either.
What made me start the blog is that I just like to write. Blogs have pretty much been dead since it's easier to document your life with your phone. Before you needed a camera to post ugly flash half ass pics of yourself then upload those with a cord. Now it takes 2 seconds. Microblogging became more of a thing, and pictures won out. Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook, and technically Twitter. I was just going to use my Tumblr to write my blog posts but the idea of people reblogging and leaving their two cents on everything I post is obnoxious. Sure people can leave their comments on here but I can delete it. You don't have the luxury of deleting a reblog on someone else's tumblr. Even if it is your post.
Tumblr isn't exactly a site that appreciates long dedicated posts. It's more about pretty pictures. Instagram is okay for the moment and Twitter I use all day. There are just times I just want to let out my thoughts. That is kind of how I release my deep dark suppressed emotions. As I'm getting more free time I'm going to have a lot to write about.
Plus my artistic creativity needs to be released in the form of gratuitous pictures of myself. With all social media, spamming pictures is annoying and unnecessary. Really you only need to post a couple times a day of your pics. Spam retweeting them is annoying as well. I shouldn't have to see your posts 20x in a row on my feed. Ahem anyways.. with blogging or having my own dedicated website I'm able to post as many unnecessary pictures of myself, my life, etc. No need for a like, your view is enough. Almost like YouTube but without taking up as much memory to edit a 5 minute clip.
The other part to it is that I want to go in full detail of my purchases. Makeup, clothes, accessories, wigs, maybe even food. My adventures of living in LA, or just simply cool stuff I wanna talk about. Maybe blogging will make a come back.. who knows. All I know is YouTube is winning, Tumblr is dying, Instagram is trying to scrape as much money as they can before it dies out. Yes Instagram is dying. It's turning into the new MySpace, there but untouched. The new algorithm, that is obnoxious gives insight to that. Everyone will get tired of instathots, extremely carefully taken pictures, skinnytea ads, etc. Snapchat did so well because it's not stressful. No permanent posts, no comments or likes, you can tell when a picture is current or posted. It's less stuck up. It will die out when it's ad heavy like every other market.
Like I was saying. I'm making moves to fill my life with pink and pretty and I need a platform for it where I can spam pictures and be word heavy. Word vomit freely. A little safe space. I've made blogs before, using blogger. I let out a little too much info. Hated the limited design options for people who can't spill out $1,000 for a basic design. Even though blogger is Google it's really lacking. No reasonably functioning app to blog on the go. So I'm trying something new. Wix. I don't care for the ugly long url but I guess investing for a custom domain won't hurt my brand. I plan to make business cards so a custom url will be beneficial. With this blog I will be completely honest with my thoughts or opinions, and hold back on my emotional outbursts.
My next post may or may not be on the Fenty Beauty lip gloss. I want to take a couple pictures of it. I didn't bother to buy anything else because it's in stores so might as well test in person. I ordered my gloss online. That's it for tonight. I really need to fix my sleeping habits. Napping during the day doesn't help.
